The Archbishop Metropolitan - March, 2011
|

2011 is upon us, we give God thanks for taking us through the past year. Many challenges faced us in
2010, but we pressed on giving of our best. We were blest to visit so many cities last year in our efforts
of outreach in the continuation building the ACW. The work is moving forward, this year our intentions
God willing will be no less.
There are many areas of this work that is yet to be in place, such as the transition of our successors. As
individuals, we are not given the luxury of how age creeps up on us, thus even in good health we must
plan for the work that has been built to be carried on. To this, Bishop Francis Theophilus (Virginia) has
been elected Metropolitan Archbishop - Elect, in waiting. For the past 12 years under the guiding hand
of our Patriarch and Bishops the foundation of the ACW has been built. We must now place our efforts
on building the side walls and roof, this we place in the hands of our successors. God willing. they too
will continue to build for their successors.
This year we shall elect a new Bishop to oversee our African affairs and parishes. We will appoint
individual leaders to carry on the mission that has been set forth. We shall continue to use this medium
of the Internet to fulfill the Motto of this charge, "Reaching our to the world."
We shall expand our missions in Canada, Caribbean and Africa. We shall establish a permanent twelve
(12) member Diocesan Board with a five (5) year tenure to oversee the continuation of the mission. In
this effort our Bishops and Priests will give greater countenance and accountability to their roles as the
future calls.
The world changes daily, while we must not compromise our faith, we must adapt the changing times.
The 1928 Book of Common Prayer has been the guide of this faith. We will do more to enhance its study,
giving a clear understanding to the future success of the ACW. We will pay more attention to our youth,
which we believe for too long have been ignored by the church.
Unity within the Continuum of the faith may never be possible, however we will continue to reach out to
other branches of the faith, perhaps in so doing we will find one accord in fellowship.
Now, in this New Year, we place our agenda and future in the hands of God. We ask for your continued
support, however your heart decides. We are always mindful a house cannot be built by one alone, but
by those who by their very presence “Till the land that it may bear fruit”. We wish all a blessed
successful year, ever mindful, ever prayerful, ever constant.
As always, "WATCH HOW YOU GO" as we enter 2011.
+ Hartley,
Metropolitan Archbishop ACW
