Thoughts to Ponder:

Malawi is one of the poorest countries in the world.  It is found in the Southern
part of Africa.  Malawi has a population of 12 million people.  According to the
findings that UNICEF produced in November 2006,
52% of Malawians live under the national poverty line
22% are ultra-poor living under 0.20 USD per day
10% are ultra-poor and at the same time labor constraint (e.g. generation gap
households)
Malnutrition is widespread in Malawi and 44% of preschoolers are stunted.
Apart from being a poverty stricken country, Malawi has been made more
vulnerable because it is one of the hardest hit countries by HIV/AIDS.  It has lost
most of its productive people due to the epidemic.  As of now, the country has 1
million orphans who are left in the care of poor helpless grandparents.

In the last 10 to 15 years, Malawi has seen hundreds of programs taking place
to reduce poverty and inequality and yet little or no progress has been made.
This has been like this because most of the programs have been
donor/organization driven.  There has been no ownership and little participation
for the communities themselves.  In the way how the programs have been run,
the communities have not adopted them to be their own.  The programs have
been imposed onto the communities hence if the organization leaves then it is
the end of the program.  This is why there has been little or no progress.

It is in this view that Pamodzi would like to work with the poor communities by
introducing programs that are community driven, introduced and owned by the
communities themselves.  Pamodzi aim to support the efforts of people in
finding their own solutions to poverty, rather than imposing solutions. When
communities work together to improve their own lives, the result is a permanent
strengthening of the community and renewed hope for the future.  For this
reason Pamodzi seeks to promote the principles of Participation, Empowerment
and Sustainability.

Therefore Pamodzi seeks to be helped in implementing this program which is
people-centered and has a holistic approach in all areas affecting a human
being such as;
Education Spiritual growth, Health, Agriculture, Economic empowerment
Pamodzi will use bottom-up, participatory, integrated strategies to address this
interlocking nature of rural poverty.

STATEMENT OF FAITH
Pamodzi Mission believes that;
1. There is but One only, living and true God
2. There are three persons in the Godhead; the Father, the Son, and the Holy
Spirit; and these three are one God, the same in substance, equal in power
and glory.
3. Man is born a sinner and is separated from God
4. Jesus is the only way that man can follow to be reconciled back to God
5. The Bible is God-breathed word and is good for teaching, rebuking,
correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be
thoroughly equipped for every good work.

Mdzibwa
Is one of the poorest villages in Nsaru area T/A Kabudula, Lilongwe.
Most of the people have access to go to primary school but do not go
as far as standard 8.  They drop out of school due to various reasons
such as;
Early marriages
Early pregnancies
Nyau practice (This is an animist religion)
Lack of motivation
Orphan hood
Caring for sick parents
Those who manage to go up to standard 8, do not go to secondary
school because;
They fail the standard 8 exams because of poor standards of teaching
and learning.  Most of the times the school they attend do not have
enough teaching and learning materials.
They can not manage to find school fees and other necessities for
secondary education such as;
Transport money to the school
School uniforms
Money for up-keep
Clothes and beddings
